A graphic short story

I am taking part in Art Every Day Month. I am also participating in National Novel Writing Month…sort of. I thought I would feed two birds with one seed so I am trying to get this double project done in a month.

Actually, this would not be much of a problem for most people but I work rather slowly, and I hardly finish anything. So for me it will be an accomplishment.

This project is a short story that has yet to be titled. It’s about a woman who inexplicably finds herself fading out. I am playing around with various collage and journal techniques. I am also trying to get rid of my stash of papers and art journal paraphernalia.

I don’t want to use papers stamps etc. just to fill up negative space so I am taking my time to find and use symbols and metaphors that the observer can “discover.” The art and the story have several layers.

This panel is one in which my protagonist receives a lay-off letter in the mail. It is in no way finished. I can’t do these in one sitting. I have to ponder them and make notes on what I may want to use.

As with many collage and art journal works things could change drastically. Stay tuned.
