“Dark” art doesn’t print well

I am working on some pieces of art for a show I plan to enter.

One of the pieces is called Orca.

I really like this piece but there is a problem. It’s dark. It prints dark: darker then what is shown on my computer screen. The colors print out dull and sort of blended together. Detail is lost.

So, my next assignment is to either find a way to change these colors so they print out closer to what I envision, change my gamma setting for my monitor, or choose another piece of art. There may be other solutions like changing paper or the printing process. Perhaps a professional printer can make my art look a lot better than my laser color printer. Ya think?

I have lots of other pieces with dark backgrounds. Time to do some homework on how to make these look good in other places besides my computer screen.
