Last weekend I went to see Star Trek. It was in HD.
It was awful. Not the movie. The movie was fantastic. The HD was awful. It was so distracting. I sat there and counted hair stubble the whole time. It was gross to say the least.
When you go to see this movie all food is contraindicated: especially when you get a look at Spok the elder. Now I get a good sense of what the term, “older than dirt” really means…and looks like. Talk about 10 miles of bad road…
I mean, really; what were the people who created HD thinking? I knew what things were going to look like when I first heard the term. I thought, Good Gawd. I don’t think I really want to see that.
In HD TV commercials you are always shown the sunset or plants or parrots. You are not shown 5:00 shadow or pimples or nose hairs.
Movies are supposed to be about fantasy. This was all too real for me. I know this is the future in movies and TV so I guess I’ll just have to get used to it.
My current TV is 14 years old and is probably going to conk out any time now. It’s probably inevitable that my next TV will be an HD set. But I have to tell you, I will not be looking forward to watching Face the Nation. That will be a little too much face.
Too much of a good thing
